Facilitated by Sarah, the creative writing classes are perfect for people wanting to enhance their writing skills or simply have some fun, sculpting their ideas and getting feedback from the rest of the group. Every week Sarah will set a theme for you to explore including places, relationships and memories. The classes will cover a range of genres of writing and use different materials to help fire your imagination!
From time to time, guest speakers join the group to share their writing experiences. So far this year, we have been very lucky to host the current Staffordshire Poet Laureate Dawn Jutton and fellow Stafforshire poet Bert Flitcroft. Last year we had three wonderful guest speakers. Jane Wilson-Howarth, the travel writer, regaled us with stories of life in Nepal. In the summer Scarlett Ward Bennett, founder and editor of The Fawn Press, gave us a fascinating insight into the world of publishing and shared tips about how to get writing published. Former Staffordshire Poet Laureate Emily Rose Galvin visited the group earlier in the year and read from her new collection, The Dew Point. We have also hosted award-winning journalist, Mary Murtagh, who entertained us with tales of being a reporter both here and abroad.
Please bring some paper/notebook and pens/pencils.
