Facilitated by Sarah, the creative writing classes are perfect for people wanting to enhance their writing skills or simply have some fun, sculpting their ideas and getting feedback from the rest of the group. Every week Sarah will set a theme/task for you to explore including places, relationships and memories. The classes will cover a range of genres of writing and use different materials to help fire your imagination!
From time to time, guest speakers join the group to share their writing experiences. This year our guests have included the poet and editor of the Offa’s Press, Simon Fletcher; children’s poet and performer, Pep the Poet; screenwriter Evie Fehilly; and the novelist Anouska Knight. Last year we were very lucky to host the Forward Prize winning poet Liz Berry. Previous wonderful guests have also included the former Staffordshire Poet Laureate Bert Flitcroft; the current Staffordshire Poet Laureate Dawn Jutton; the travel writer Jane Wilson-Howarth; founder and editor of the Fawn Press Scarlett Ward Bennett; and former Staffordshire Poet Laureate Emily Rose Galvin. Each guest brings something new and inspirational to the group.
In December of every year, we print a collection of the group's work. If you attend the class, you will have the opportunity to be part of this collection should you wish.
Please bring some paper/notebook and pens/pencils.
