WELCOME BACK: WE ARE OPEN ON THE PATIO FROM 10AM WITH LAST ORDERS AT 4PM

From April 12th we will re open our doors to welcome you back to our patio area for food and drink. The plan is to open at 10am serving drinks, cakes and savoury pastries. From noon until 3.30pm we will be serving our lunch menu and then we'll take last orders for any more cakes, coffees and pastries up until 4pm. We will allocate the outside tables on a first come, first served basis and there will be take away gourmet hot dogs and drinks if you'd like a picnic.

From May 17th the cinemas will reopen. I'm not sure if social distancing will still be in place but I can adjust the seating accordingly depending on word from Boris. My aim is to have the film schedule ready for you to book by May 4th. At this stage you will be able to book seats in the cinemas, cafe bar and outside from 10am until 8.45pm and brunch, lunch and dinner will be available as normal. The rule of six or more than six if you are from two households will apply indoors. Creative classes

From June 21st everything will return to normal which feels strange to even write down. Social distancing will be removed from the cinemas and cafe bar if everything goes ahead as planned. It's so exciting

OUR HISTORY

Twelve years ago we set out to build a small independent two screen cinema and cafe bar where people could enjoy a two course meal and a film under one roof. The idea of a meal and a film was nothing new but we did believe that people would enjoy it more if they could eat and chat in a relaxed atmosphere and then be invited to wander over to their screen and watch a film in a small, peaceful cinema in their especially reserved seats. We thought it was a romantic idea, enchanting...simple really. We were going to float through this on a wave of measured optimism, sound business experience and realistic goals and timescales.

Four years and four months later we looked exactly like a spectacular ‘Grand Designs’ style disaster. We had that slightly wild, forced, entrenched and delusional look about us all the time. We had purchased land without any finance, been through four rounds of planning, been turned down by 7 banks, sold everything we’d ever owned except a ten year old car, changed our architectural plans 53 times and along the way had picked up two digital projectors we didn’t know how to work. We had no home, no pension plan and no jobs. We never slept, we barely ate, we regularly had meetings at 4am, we were, definitely, without doubt, completely bonkers.

That was eight years ago; six incredible and quite scary, life changing years. Then we opened the doors and the support we have received was simply unbelievable. We have certainly felt every bump along the road, some more brutally bone shaking than others but we’re also incredibly proud of The Red Carpet and its place within the local community.

More recently of course we've had the outbreak of Covid 19 in 2020 which forced us to close for almost an entire year. Your help and support by writing reviews and buying gift vouchers even when you had no idea when you'd be able to spend them was overwhelming and we were also grateful recipiants of a BFI Grant.

To everyone who chooses The Red Carpet, we can’t thank you enough for your support.

Here's to a exciting, film packed 2021.
