From the Page to the Pictures reading group - Mondays taught in the Cinema
Mondays: 9.30am – 11.30am. Starts Monday 5th January 2026 (excludes half-term Monday 16th February 2026). Final class Monday 23rd March 2026.
£159.50 for a 11 week term with the option to take one week off (10 weeks is £145.00). Price includes a hot or soft drink.

Join us for the reading group at the Red Carpet Cinema exploring both classic and modern literature. The classes are run by Sarah, an experienced teacher of English and the Red Carpet Creative Writing tutor, who will guide you through the texts in a fun and informative way. Every term, we read two texts and watch a film adaptation of each. This term we will be reading the novels One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey and Alice Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. You will need the Penguin Modern Classics edition of One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest with an introduction by Robert Faggen (ISBN 978-0-141-18788-4) and the Penguin Classics edition of Alice with an introduction by Hugh Haughton (ISBN 978-0141439761).
Please note that we will be exploring challenging themes in both texts.
You will need a copy of both books (any edition), a pen and a notepad.
Sarah has a Master's Degree in English Language, a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature and has written a range of academic materials. She has been teaching and tutoring English Language and Literature for twenty-five years, including ten years’ teaching creative writing. She runs a fun, supportive, interesting group where everyone can join in - no matter how nervous you may feel about your abilities.
